More than forty children aged from 6 to 14 have tried our initial VJ-engine. As shown in the picture, they were instructed to wear a
close-talking microphone and to play a game (moving a mouse and click on Peanuts cartoon images) using their voice. It was indeed interesting to see that when the children failed to produce the exactly correct sounds to move the mouse, they tended to create their own sounds to accomplish certain movements. This sort of feedback is invaluable in redesigning the VJ system to be more customized for the human perceptional system. Since this initial demonstration, we have greatly improved the VJ-engine.
